Today our biking trip really began. Our train, First Great Western high speed London to Penzance, £28 each with a Senior Citizen pass, courtesy of dear Gerry, was to leave at 10.57 am from Paddington Station. We were up for a delicious brekky provided by Gerry.
Leaving Gerry's in Hackney Wick
The plan was to bike to Paddington along the canals. I will spare you the discussions about how much time to allow for this project - but eventually we set off... It seemed to take much longer than I thought, even though Gerry and John remained calm.
We did make it, caught the train, stored the bikes, found our coach, and settled in for our five hour journey. Very comfortabe, on time with arrival in Penzance about 4 .15 pm. We had booked our first night's B and B at Sennen 12 miles away, 1 mile from Lands End. Fine weather in Penzance as we set out along the A30, a very busy road. But it got foggier and foggier, and wetter and wetter, and a couple of the hills had to be walked (shame)!!!!!, but at about 5.45 we arrived at our B and B. - Mayon Farmhouse.
Janet and David Mitchell were our hosts. Turns out they have a great number of End to Enders staying with them. Tea with scones, clotted cream and jam were the first order of the day and we both ate two each!!!!!
Walked in the intense fog to the local for a drink. Couldn't manage any more in way of food, so returned home to flop into bed.
