Truro - Cornwall's capital. JST sorting out how to get through.
Well, it was a tough day.
I was asking a local real estate agent for directions at one point today, and when she saw that we were doing a " lanes route" she exclaimed "Wow, you're keen!!!"
As I posted yesterday, the hills are SO STEEP, and constant - down one hill into the valley, and then up the other side, over and over and over again . We walked a lot, almost as much as we biked, it sometimes seemed.
The problem is that the alternative is the extremely busy narrow main roads, which would be less hilly, but terrifying to ride on.
I suspect most of you would be walking too!!!!
Cute signage - some sort of distraction
However we have decided that we are doing it at the best pace of which we are capable, and also that Cornwall and Devon are recognized as the worst of the hills on the whole trip, so we will do our best and see what happens.
Which way would you go confronted with the above? Thank goodness for a Garmin and a husband who can read maps... who even LIKES to sort things like this out??
Weather was basically fine, warm, and sometimes misty, bordering on rain. People say they never look at the weather forecast , since it can vary enormously in very short distances,
Accomodation is proving a little difficult,, today again we found ourselves in an area where there is very little. With a little exploration though, involving several different people, we found a perfectly adequate place with a kind of Coro St landlady and it is great.
It is especially good in that the pub is right next door. 5.15 pm beer and wine, cottage pie dinner as soon as it began serving at 6 pm, and then home,
As I type this JST is asleep, and I will not be far behind,
